Crane Information Mobile

Crane Season at the Crane Information Mobile in Zingst is over.

Thanks to all our guests for visiting us and sharing amazing birdlife experiences with our rangers. We are looking forward to meeting you again in September 2023.

Every year in September and Octover our crane rangers are ready to answer your questions between 3 pm and sunset. With binoculars and a spotting scope they provide an even more fascinating experience when watching the cranes flying to their sleeping areas.

Cranes used feeding areas between the cities of Stralsund and Barth. To provide visitors with guidance and information in that region as well, a mobile Crane Information Mobile (CIM) was constructed. The CIM is a modified construction trailer, fitted with information material, binoculars and a field scopew, while two dedicated crane rangers give information and guidance to visitors. During the last years, the Crane Information Mobile was placed during the main autumn staging season at Hermannshof southwest of the town of Barth.

The Crane Information Mobile is located at the southwestern corner of the town Zingst (the GPS coordinates are: 54.42555 N, 12.67452 E). During the autumn rest it is in use to handle the intense visitor care and inform even further. From here, under the expert guidance of our crane rangers, visitors can admire the flight of the cranes to the roosting spot on the offshore island of Kirr every evening.

The CIM opens mostly from Mid-September and welcomes the Crane Watchers in September and October from 3 o´clock p.m. until sunset. A visit there is always worth it. Any changes of the location as well as of the opening hours are announced at our website and via www.facebook.com/kranichschutz.
