A Rarity at the Kranorama

By the way

My morning walk still takes me past the Kranorama—in the hope of spotting a few cranes. Unfortunately, no luck this morning.

But a very special surprise was waiting for me instead: a true rarity!

A hoopoe made an appearance—a fascinating bird that is increasingly spreading further north. It is now spotted more regularly in Central Germany and Mecklenburg, but here on the Vorpommern coast, it remains an absolute rarity.

Could this perhaps be the first visible success of our conservation efforts and initiatives (e.g., hedge planting) around Lake Günzer?

So it’s always worth stopping by this special place. And afterwards, enjoy a cappuccino—the NABU Experience Center KRANICHWELTEN (Straße des Friedens 21c, 18445 Günz) is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for its guests. And in our “Café des Glücks,” you can warm up with a delicious specialty coffee and a snack—or a pizza….

Welcome!
