Patrol on the move

More and more often, you can spot cranes in stubble fields and meadows. They are also turning up time and again in the immediate vicinity and can be heard from a distance thanks to their trumpet-like calls. Then, this morning, the first flypast over the meadows at KRANORAMA. It was just a fly-past. There were no signs of them landing. Perhaps it was a reconnaissance flight to check whether maize seeds had already been scattered on the meadow.

We haven’t started the diversionary feeding yet, as the cranes are still finding plenty of food in the stubble fields. In the next few days, once these fields have largely been ploughed over and the first Scandinavian cranes arrive across the Baltic Sea, there will be maize to eat at the KRANORAMA again.
